Professor, organist and composer
He began his education at the Escolania de Montserrat with Bartomeu Blanch. He won the position of organist of the Cathedral of Barcelona but was unable to take office due to not being ordained. He was Kapellmeister of the collegiate church of Santa Anna in Barcelona and he taught musicians such as Francesc Alió and Isaac Albéniz. He is renowned for making music accessible to wider audiences but especially, for his Wagnerian advocacy. He was a member of the delegation of the Board of Trustees of the Bayreuth Festival and wrote various articles about it, which were published in journals linked to the Wagnerian Association of Barcelona. He died of smallpox and left a catalogue that included religious music and other works for piano and voice and piano.
