Performer, pedagogue and conductor

Of French-Andalusian descent, Ainaud began his training at the Escolania de la Mercè and later, at Conservatori del Liceu. He moved to Paris, where he studied violin under M. Haygot and harmony under P. Vidal. He was member of the Paris Opera Concert Orchestra and was in contact with figures such as Vincent d'Indy and Eugène Gigout who advised him.

Back in Barcelona, he was deputy concertmaster of the Pau Casals Orchestra and was conductor of the Associació Íntima de Concerts, in addition to participating in other chamber music projects. He was Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur of the Government of France and professor at the Ecole Normale. He was founding director of the Académie Ainaud.

He collaborated with the Revista Musical Catalana and gave various lectures. He wrote Methodo de violino theorico e practico and published other treatises on music education. He composed some pieces for violin, some of which were marketed under the pseudonym John Milter.
