Pianist and musicologist
He completed his piano studies at the Conservatori de València under Josep Bellver and graduated in Philosophy. He travelled to Paris, where he expanded his training with Ricard Viñes. He made his debut in 1922 at the Ateneu de Madrid and in 1924 he went on an international tour accompanying Joan Manén. In 1928, after performing at the Palau de la Música Catalana, he gave a successful recital in Paris and stayed there to continue to improve his technique. In 1931 and 1934 he returned to the French capital starring in a series of concerts. In the 1940s he settled in Madrid where, in addition to his concert activity, he took part in the creation of the R.N.E. Orchestra. He never abandoned the international stages: he frequented Parisian stages and toured Portugal, South Africa, the Belgian Congo and the Philippines offering over a thousand recitals. Regarding his musicological interest, he analysed the theoretical works of J. Tinctoris and delved into the study of treatises on mensural notation. In 1927 he obtained his PhD on the Uppsala Songbook.
