She is considered one of the most important sopranos of the second half of the 20th century. He graduated from Liceu Conservatory and studied, among others, with Conxita Badia. In 1955 she made her debut at Theater Fortuny in Reus in the role of Serpina of Pergolesi’s La Serva padrona. Nevertheless, her first international success was in 1965, in a concert performance of Donizetti’s Lucrezi Borgia at Carnegie Hall (New York) replacing Marilyn Horne. Critics said her voice was the sum of Maria Callas and Renata Tebaldi. In addition to performing in the most important theaters around the world and having an extensive discography, he sung in more than eighty roles ranging from a variety of operatic genres fom barroque, Italian and German operas (such as those by R. Wagner and R. Strauss) and 20th century music. She also set a dialogue with popular music and performed with singers such as Freddie Mercury and bands such as Mecano.
