Biografia
Composer, kapellmeister and organist
He began his musical education in 1826 at the escolania of the cathedral of Vic where he was a pupil of Josep Gallés. Towards 1838 he moved to Barcelona, where he studied at the church of Santa Maria del Pi with Josep Rosés and Josep Quintana. He replaced Francesc Andreví in two positions: as organist of Santa Maria del Pi from 1842 onwards and in 1853, as kapellmeister of the church of La Mercè. He composed around 700 pieces, a large part of which edited by Joan Baptista Pujol. His output includes the oratorio La última noche de Babilonia (1848) and the symphony Homenatge a Beethoven. He was teacher and conductor of the Philharmonic Society of Barcelona, and music critic for the newspaper El Áncora.
