Luthier
He learned the trade with his father, the lutier Étienne Maire Breton, who was born and trained in Mirecourt and who in 1850 had taken over the Altimira workshop in Barcelona. By the 1880's, father and son moved to Paris, but upon the death of his father, Maire Clarà returned to Barcelona. In 1919 he settled in Madrid. Constructor of a very personal style, he was admired by Joan Manén, who played one of his violins (preserved today at the Music Museum in Barcelona).
