Pianist

She was Frank Marshall’s pupil in his Acadèmia. There, she met great pianists such as Anton Rubinstein, Emil von Sauer and Alfred Cortot. At six years of age, she offered her first recital. By 1935-36, she debuted as soloist in Madrid and Barcelona, conducted by Fernández Arbós and Joan Lamote de Grignon respectively. In the 1940s she made numerous recitals all over Europe, and in 1954 she debuted in the United States with a tour of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. She was the accompanying pianist of Conxita Badia and Victoria dels Àngels. From 1959 she directed the Marshall Academy, combining her activity as a concert pianist with that of the school. Her discography has received outstanding awards such as the Deutsche Schallplattenpris (1979), four Grammy Awards and three Edison awards. She is considered one of the greatest pianists of her generation, especially for her performances of Albéniz and Granados.
